Exchange rate and transfer fees

One rate — 130 HTG for every US dollar — and every charge shown before you confirm: our transfer fee, plus the operator's own charge when your money lands in a wallet. No margin added to the rate, and nothing deducted from what your recipient receives.

The rate applied to every transfer

Transfers to Haiti are converted at a fixed 130 Haitian gourdes per US dollar. The rate is not a daily quote that moves while you are filling in a form: it is the rate you are shown, and it is locked the moment you confirm.

That matters more than it sounds. When a rate floats between the moment you confirm and the moment the money lands, the difference is absorbed by whoever is holding it — usually your recipient. A fixed rate means the gourdes you were quoted are the gourdes that arrive.

How the rate is applied

Our fee is added on top of the amount you send — what you type is what the recipient's side receives, converted at the fixed rate. The operator's own charge is passed through at cost as a separate line. Everything is shown before you confirm:

The gourdes in the last column are what lands in the recipient's wallet. Nothing is deducted on the receiving end — withdrawing cash at an agent is the operator's own service and costs extra, as listed under operator charges, and you can cover it for them at checkout.

The fee schedule

The transfer fee is tiered by the amount you send. Below $80 it is a percentage; from $80 up it is a flat fee that grows slowly with the amount, so larger transfers cost proportionally less.

This table is generated from the same schedule the checkout applies to your transfer, so it cannot fall out of step with what you are actually charged. If a description of our fees elsewhere on this site ever disagrees with this table, the schedule applied at checkout governs.

Operator charges, passed through at cost

MonCash and NatCash charge a fee of their own for every wallet transfer. We pay it to the operator and pass it through to you as its own line at checkout — never hidden inside the rate or our fee. The tables below are read from the operators' published tariffs, the same figures the checkout charges against. Bank delivery involves no operator wallet, so it carries no operator charge.

One more honesty note: each operator transfer is capped, so a large send goes out as several transfers — each charged per the tables below. The operator column in the worked examples above already includes that split.

Withdrawing cash at an agent is a separate operator service with its own tariff. The example below takes the wallet credit of the $500 transfer worked out above:

At checkout you can choose to cover this fee, so the recipient keeps the full amount in cash — the cost is added to your total, shown before you confirm.

What you are not charged for

No markup on the rate. The 130 figure is the rate used for the conversion, not a retail rate with a margin hidden inside it.
No receiving fee. Your recipient is not charged by us to be paid, whether the money lands in a wallet or a bank account.
No markup on operator charges. MonCash and NatCash bill us for each wallet transfer, and we pass the charge through at cost as its own line — you could pay the same amount at the operator's own counter.

Working out what a transfer will cost

The amount you see before you confirm is the final amount — fee, rate and recipient total are all shown together, and nothing changes after you confirm it. If you want to check a figure against this page, the two will match, because both come from the same schedule.
