Mobile money transfers to Haiti
MonCash and NatCash are how most families in Haiti receive money. Both land in the recipient's wallet in seconds, and both need nothing from them but the phone they already have.
Why mobile money is the fastest route
A mobile wallet transfer does not clear through banking hours. Once the transfer is confirmed, the money is credited to the wallet and the recipient can spend it, withdraw it or send it on immediately. That is why mobile money is instant where a bank transfer into a Haitian account can take up to a day.
It is also the option that asks the least of the person receiving. No branch visit, no account paperwork, no proof of address — just the registered wallet and the phone number attached to it.
Sending to MonCash
MonCash is one of Haiti's two widely used mobile money services. If your recipient already keeps their money in a MonCash wallet, this is the delivery method to choose.
What your recipient needs
- A registered MonCash wallet, in their own name.
- The phone number the wallet is registered to — this is the number you enter, and it must be the wallet's number rather than a second SIM they happen to carry.
How long it takes
Instant. The wallet is credited as soon as the transfer is confirmed, at any hour and on any day.
Sending to NatCash
NatCash is the other major mobile money service in Haiti, and it works the same way from your side. The choice between the two is not about speed — both are instant — it is about which wallet your recipient actually uses.
What your recipient needs
- A registered NatCash wallet, in their own name.
- The phone number registered to that wallet.
How long it takes
Instant, exactly as with MonCash.
MonCash or NatCash — which should you pick?
Pick the wallet your recipient already uses. Sending to a wallet they do not have, or to a number that is not registered to one, is the most common mistake we see, and it is the one that turns an instant transfer into a support conversation.
If you are not sure which they have, ask before you send. If your recipient would rather have the money in a bank account, bank delivery is available and arrives within 24 hours.
What causes a mobile money transfer to be delayed
A wallet transfer is credited the moment it is confirmed, so a delay almost always means something did not match:
- The number is not a wallet. A phone number is only a wallet if it is registered to one. A number that is merely active will not receive the money.
- The name does not match. The recipient name you enter has to match the name on the wallet.
- The wallet is not in their name. A wallet registered to someone else cannot be credited to your recipient.
If the money has not appeared, contact us — a transfer that cannot be delivered is refunded in full under our money-back guarantee.
What a mobile money transfer costs
Our fee depends on the amount you send. The operator — MonCash or NatCash — charges its own fee for the wallet transfer, and we pass that through at cost as its own line; bank delivery carries no operator charge. At 130 HTG per US dollar:
